Why she teaches

Why Hana started Mastering Therapy™ Business School

"I know what it feels like to be deeply skilled in the room and completely lost outside of it."

Mastering Therapy™ Business School exists because the profession deserves better than the "figure it out as you go" approach most of us were handed at graduation.

You've already done the hard work of becoming a great therapist. Let's build the business that honours that.

Her story

The talk she gave at TEDx

For a long time, Hana lived with depression that no one could see. She ran to cope. She ran more than 30 marathons on several continents and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. From the outside, it looked as if she had it all figured out.

In January 2022, she read about Abdi, a man from a rural village in Somalia. Because of his mental illness, he spent 17 years locked up. The people around him did not understand that he was ill.

His story changed her life. She studied the mental health care in Somalia and spoke with psychiatrists and health care professionals there. Then she founded the Myrrh Tree Foundation.

The foundation is building a mental health facility in Somalia: a psychiatric hospital with organic farming and therapeutic workshops, so that patients can learn to support themselves. Proceeds from her counselling sessions support this work.

Hana told this story at TEDxBronxvilleHS, in her talk "Changing global mental health perspectives".
